Owner
With over 20 years of experience with Allstate and nearly three decades in the insurance industry, Steve Root built The Root Agency on one simple principle: serve people well and treat every customer like family. Known for his relationship-driven approach, Steve believes insurance should never be transactional — his focus is on being a trusted advisor, local expert, and long-term resource for every customer he serves.
Brad Smith
Director of Sales
Born and raised in Louisiana, Brad Smith brings deep local knowledge, leadership, and a strong commitment to customer service. A graduate of Live Oak High School with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Management and Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University, Brad has been with The Root Agency since 2010.
Lindsey Weaver
Sales Executive
A Baton Rouge native, Lindsey Weaver brings both local insight and extensive industry experience to every customer interaction. She graduated from Bishop Sullivan High School and continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in General Business and Management.
Lacey Gibson
Service Manager
With a deep appreciation for her Louisiana roots, Lacey Gibson brings warmth, expertise, and a personal touch to every client interaction. A Louisiana native, she graduated from Slidell High School before continuing her education at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she studied Business Management and Psychology.
Ryan Trude

Ryan Trude brings a thoughtful, client-focused approach to helping individuals and families find the right personal insurance solutions. Raised in Idaho, Ryan graduated from Rigby High School before earning his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Brigham Young University–Idaho.

Our Story
Steve Root acquired the agency in 2018, continuing a family legacy of more than 40 years in Louisiana insurance. Today, The Root Agency is a full-service insurance team providing auto, home, flood, life, boat, motorcycle, umbrella, and renters insurance across Louisiana and Mississippi.
A veteran of the insurance industry long before he took ownership, Steve isn't fazed by what scares other agencies, including hurricanes. When hurricanes hit and other insurance companies fled Louisiana, Steve stayed. When the 2016 Baton Rouge floods devastated neighborhoods that had never flooded before, The Root Agency was on the ground helping families recover. When carriers stopped writing home insurance in Louisiana, Allstate continued, and The Root Agency continued to serve.
